Dear Lost Coast Outpost,

Did you know salmon need cold water to live? My name is Holly Cox and I’m a 4th grader at Freshwater School. I live in Eureka, CA and care about salmon and watersheds. I strongly believe everyone should plant trees to help the watersheds.

One reason is that trees provide a healthy river for salmon. For example, salmon need cold water and trees give shade to make water colder.

Another reason is that trees and other plants help make the water clean. Let me explain in more detail. Trees hold back the dirt and plants make water cleaner by being filters.

In my opinion we should plant trees to help the watersheds. Remember, by planting trees, you could save a watershed.

Sincerely,

Holly Cox
