Fortuna Police Department release: 

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at approximately 6:30 P.M., Fortuna Police arrested 26 year old, Alejandro Mendoza-Alcazar following an investigation into multiple counts of felony sexual assault perpetrated against a minor. These events occurred recently and were first reported to the Fortuna Police Department during the third week of March 2021. Mendoza-Alcazar was interviewed by investigators from the Fortuna Police Department and as a result, Mendoza-Alcazar provided a confession to the reported allegations.

As a result of the available evidence and Mendoza-Alcazar’s statements to police, investigators obtained an arrest warrant which was issued by the Humboldt County Superior Court for the arrest of Mendoza-Alcazar. Mendoza-Alcazar was booked on the following charges:

California Penal Code Sections: 287(c) – Oral Copulation of a Minor Under 14 Years of Age with Force or Fear, 288 – Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Minor, 288.2 – Harmful Matter Sent to a Minor, 288.3 – Contact of a Minor with Intent to Commit a Sexual Offense, 289(i) – Any Person 21 Years of Age or Older Participating in an Act of Sexual Penetration with a Person Under the Age of 16, 289(a)(1)(A) – Penetration with a Foreign Object, and 647.6(a)(1) – Annoying or Molesting a Minor Child.

Fortuna Police will be filing additional felony charges with the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office. As a result of the arrest, Mendoza-Alcazar was booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $1,250,000.00.
