Samanatha Kristen Machado aka Smoker left the earth on September 14, 2021 after a difficult battle of pneumonia exacerbated by repeated asthma attacks. While she is no longer with us, her love will live forever in all those she held near and dear to her heart.

Samantha was a proud Yurok tribal member with a strong family bloodline of Tolowa tribal descendancy. Her beautiful presence was a gift to all those she encountered. A charismatic, strong and sometimes hilarious personality lit up every room she walked in. Sam enjoyed traveling all over California and Oregon to visit friends and family. She spent some time living near Yosemite park. It was a dream to visit one day with her family. Sam prided herself on her hard work and not a day went by without accomplishment. Her love and dedication to her family and friends meant everything to her. Sometimes her sense of humor would catch you off guard. If you needed to hear tough love, she would give it to you. Recently, she gained certification as a caregiver. She was a Healthcare Hero that worked very hard to help people in need. Her sweet but down-to-earth charm allowed her to engage and befriend people from all walks of life. We will forever miss her laugh and the love she gave.
