ORIGINAL POST:
The Humboldt County Health Department has temporarily shuttered Chin’s Café & Motel in Eureka following the discovery of rodent droppings in the dry storage and kitchen area of the restaurant. The health inspector found the droppings — along with some unclean knives and a broccoli-cabbage mix that was not adequately chilled — during a routine inspection this afternoon, resulting in the temporary suspension of Chin’s retail food permit.
To reopen, the owners must “increase the frequency of licensed pest control services to biweekly visits until such time that two consecutive reports show no activity,” according to the report. The owners must also clean and sanitize “all impacted areas” and “containerize” all dish ware and food containers overnight to avoid potential contamination.
Once that work is complete and the health inspector delivers a clean bill of health for the restaurant, Chin’s may reopen.
