Deborah Renee (Boldt) Clancy went to live with our Lord in His Kingdom on May 28, 2026.
Debby was born to parents Margaret and Edward Boldt in Youngstown, Ohio, on August 18, 1933. She lived in Stuthers, Ohio, until she went away to college in 1951.
She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1955. She soon married Donald Clancy and began raising three children, Timothy, Mary, and Patrick in Denver, Colorado, until 1970, when the family moved to Arcata, California.
Debby loved life, her family, her church, her friends, and all of God’s creation. She loved to travel, loved the outdoors, the mountains, the woods, the beaches, and her garden. She saw herself as basically a mother, a wife, and a homemaker. Those who knew her know she was so much more. She was a great friend, confidant, and support to so many.
She enjoyed her volunteer work at the local elementary schools, the decades at St. Joseph Hospital, and above all at her parish, St. Mary’s in Arcata. She was a Eucharistic Minister and helped people find and strengthen their faith through the RCIA process. She started and managed the Catholic Community Bookshop for years.
Later in life Debby got a new name, Grammy. Her love of her grandchildren made her life complete. Mary and Eric Schertel’s children, Emily (Jimmy) and Rainer (Meg), Patrick and Cindy Clancy’s children, Josey Colleen and Jack, and Tim and Kathy Clancy’s children, Thomas (Noelle) and Adam were the greatest joys in her life. Before her passing she was blessed to welcome three great-grandchildren into the family, Brooks (Rainer and Meg), Reese (Emily and Jimmy), and Kian (Thomas and Noelle).
Grammy was definitely the matriarch of her family. She was a spiritual leader and guide who helped shape and form the minds and hearts of those in her family.
Deborah is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her son, Timothy. She will be watching over and waiting to welcome the rest of her family in Heaven.
The family would like to thank the staff at Timber Ridge/Renaissance of McKinleyville for the years of care and support they provided. In addition they would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Humboldt for making her comfortable and connected. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to Hospice of Humboldt in Deborah’s name.
Grammy, we love you, may you rest in peace. The family will be having a private service at a later date. She will be buried alongside her husband and son at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Arcata.
