In Loving Memory of Jack Jenson
July 31, 1959 – October 27, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jack Jenson, who went home to be with his Lord on October 27, 2026. Surrounded by his loving family, Jack passed peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, and a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Jack was born on July 31, 1959, in Arcata to William and Evelyn Jenson. He grew up in Arcata and graduated from Arcata High School. Jack was a man with a heart of gold, someone who touched the lives of those around him and made lasting friendships wherever life took him.

Jack spent many years working at the Blue Lake Skating Rink, where he met countless wonderful people. It was there that he met Arlene Sousa, and a few years later, they welcomed their daughter, Patty Jenson, on August 22, 1989. Jack and Patty shared a special bond that went far beyond that of a father and daughter. They were quite literally two peas in a pod, sharing a connection, love, and friendship that will forever remain in her heart.

One of Jack’s greatest passions in life was trains. He was an active volunteer with the Timber Heritage Association, where he dedicated his time and love to helping rebuild and preserve Humboldt County’s railroad history. His passion for trains was something he shared with his daughter, creating memories and a love that will continue through the generations.

Outside of his love for trains, Jack treasured spending time outdoors with his family, especially camping with his daughter and grandsons. Their yearly camping trips to Trinity Lake were among his favorite traditions, filled with laughter, memories, and moments that his family will hold close forever.

Jack leaves behind his beloved daughter, Patty Jenson, and her fiancé, Matthew; his three grandsons, Robert, Braxton, and Bradyn; his sister, Jill; his nephews, Dallas, Matt, and Kris; and his niece and nephews, Markie, Armondo, and Mario. He also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Jack will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, stories, and passions will live on through the people he loved and the memories he leaves behind.

His legacy will continue through his family, his grandsons, and the railroad community he loved so dearly.

Highball, Dad. Let’s get that steamie rolling. Until we meet again.

A memorial service celebrating Jack’s life will be held in February 2027 at his favorite place, the Timber Heritage Association. Further details will be announced at a later date.
