MINI TRAFFIC CIRCLE SAFETY DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

G Street at Humboldt Street and Pine Street at Hawthorne Street Intersections

The City of Eureka will be removing the transportation safety demonstration project at the above locations in Eureka beginning Friday, September 11, 2026 at 9 a.m. at the Humboldt Street and G Street location followed by the Pine Street and Hawthorn Street location on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 9 a.m.

As part of a Vision Zero traffic safety initiative, the proposed Mini Traffic Circle Demonstration Project was to install temporary mini traffic circles at the selected intersections. The project was designed to calm traffic, reduce vehicle speeds, improve intersection safety, and enhance conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.

Data has been collected throughout the summer with the Mini Traffic Circles installed. The next phase is to remove the Mini Traffic Circle demonstration projects and collect data of the typical roadway conditions.

The patience and cooperation of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians in the vicinity of the of the demonstration locations is greatly appreciated while the project is ongoing.

The City of Eureka realizes that this disruption is an inconvenience, but evaluating the City’s street infrastructure is vital to the health and safety of our residents.
