… or, as an episode of Seinfeld!

“The Permit”

(Jerry, George, Elaine, and Kramer are seated at Monk’s Cafe, discussing their latest adventures)

Jerry: So, what’s new with you guys?

George: Oh, you know, same old same old. Trying to navigate the crazy world of dating in New York City.

Elaine: Speaking of crazy worlds, did you guys hear about that new cannabis cultivation permit up in Humboldt County?

Jerry: Cannabis cultivation permit? What’s the deal with that?

Elaine: Well, it’s for this company called Natura Blue, Inc. They’re looking to set up a huge outdoor grow operation in Larabee Valley.

Kramer: Larabee Valley, huh? I’ve always wanted to start my own hemp farm. Imagine the possibilities, Jerry!

Jerry: (deadpan) Yes, Kramer, I can see you now, tending to your fields of hemp, living off the land.

Elaine: (excitedly) Maybe we should take a trip up there and check it out! See what all the buzz is about.

George: (sarcastically) Oh, yeah, because nothing says “fun weekend getaway” like a cannabis farm in the middle of nowhere.

Jerry: (smirking) I can see it now, us wandering through rows of marijuana plants, getting lost in a fog of…fertilizer.

Elaine: (ignoring the sarcasm) Come on, guys, it could be an adventure! Plus, we could score some free samples.

(Kramer nods enthusiastically)

Jerry: (sighing) Fine, let’s do it. But mark my words, this trip will be nothing but trouble.

(Next scene, the gang is driving through the winding roads of Humboldt County, approaching Larabee Valley)

Jerry: (squinting out the window) Are we sure we’re going the right way? All I see are pine trees and more pine trees.

Elaine: According to the directions, the Natura Blue farm should be right up ahead.

(They arrive at the farm and are greeted by a friendly employee who offers to show them around)

Employee: Welcome to Natura Blue, Inc.! We’re thrilled to have you here. Let me show you our state-of-the-art cultivation facilities.

(The gang is led through rows of cannabis plants, learning about the cultivation process and the company’s commitment to sustainability)

Jerry: (whispering to Elaine) This is actually pretty impressive. Who knew growing weed could be so…professional?

Elaine: (whispering back) I know, right? They even have a rainwater catchment pond and solar power!

(The tour concludes and the gang is invited to a tasting of Natura Blue’s products)

Kramer: (excitedly) This is it, guys! Our chance to sample the finest marijuana in all of Humboldt County.

(They try various strains and products, with mixed reactions)

George: (sarcastically) Well, I can cross “weed connoisseur” off my bucket list.

Elaine: (smirking) I have to admit, this has been an eye-opening experience. Who knew cannabis cultivation could be so…legitimate?

Jerry: (nodding) I guess you can’t judge a farm by its cover. Maybe there’s more to this whole cannabis industry than meets the eye.

(The gang bids farewell to Natura Blue, Inc. and heads back to New York City, reflecting on their unexpected adventure)

George: (grinning) So, who’s up for starting our own hemp farm now?

Jerry: (rolling his eyes) Oh, brother. Welcome to the wild world of weed, folks.

(End scene, fade to black)

… or, as a right-wing radio talk show hosted by Merv "The Beast" Tarkington!

Welcome back, folks! You’re listening to Merv “The Beast” Tarkington, coming at you with all the conservative news and views you need to hear. Today, we’re diving into the latest controversy in Humboldt County, where the Planning Commission is considering a Conditional Use Permit for 4 Wheel Properties, LLC to expand their commercial cannabis cultivation operation.

Now, I don’t know about you, but this whole situation reeks of government overreach and bureaucratic nonsense. I mean, we’re talking about hard-working Americans trying to make a living and provide a product that is in high demand. But leave it to the leftists in power to throw up roadblocks and red tape at every turn.

This company is simply looking to expand their operation, create jobs, and contribute to the local economy. But instead of embracing entrepreneurship and innovation, the Planning Commission is dragging their feet and subjecting them to endless environmental reviews and regulatory hoops to jump through.

And don’t even get me started on the so-called “concerns” raised by these pencil pushers. They’re worried about water usage, fire hazards, tribal consultation, you name it. But at the end of the day, these are just excuses to delay and obstruct progress.

Let’s call a spade a spade, folks. This is nothing more than government tyranny disguised as environmental stewardship. It’s time to stand up for the rights of businesses like 4 Wheel Properties, LLC and push back against these out-of-touch bureaucrats.

So, I urge you to contact the Planning Commission and demand that they approve this Conditional Use Permit without delay. Let’s support small businesses, uphold property rights, and cut through the liberal nonsense that’s holding our community back.

Thanks for tuning in, folks. This is Merv “The Beast” Tarkington, signing off until next time. Stay strong, stay conservative, and stay tuned to the truth.

… or, as a Bruce Springsteen song!

(Verse 1)
In the County of Humboldt, on the Larabee Valley land
Jennifer Dunn had a plan, with cannabis in hand
Two Conditional Use Permits, for cultivation and more
With water from a well and a rainwater catchment store

(Chorus)
Oh, Jennifer Dunn, in the Humboldt County sun
Growing cannabis, work never done
With power from PGE, and solar for emergencies
Making her mark on the Larabee Valley trees

(Verse 2)
43,560 square feet, of outdoor commercial grow
Ancillary nursery, to help the plants to show
Water usage, 958,320 gallons a year
With Well 2 and Pond 4, the plants will never fear

(Chorus)
Oh, Jennifer Dunn, in the Humboldt County sun
Growing cannabis, work never done
With power from PGE, and solar for emergencies
Making her mark on the Larabee Valley trees

(Bridge)
Consulting with the tribes, and following the rules
Ensuring the land, and the cultural jewels
Environmental review, to mitigate the fears
Jennifer Dunn’s project, will last for many years

(Chorus)
Oh, Jennifer Dunn, in the Humboldt County sun
Growing cannabis, work never done
With power from PGE, and solar for emergencies
Making her mark on the Larabee Valley trees

(Outro)
So raise a glass, to Jennifer Dunn
In the County of Humboldt, her work is never done
Cultivating cannabis, with care and pride
Oh Jennifer Dunn, may your fields grow wide.
