Bad Crash Off 96 Near Orleans; Victim Being Airlifted

Photos and video: Angela McLaughlin

UPDATE 2 p.m.: As the photos and videos above and below, which were sent to us by reader Angela McLaughlin, show, a REACH life-flight helicopter has landed on the river bar to transport the patient.

####

A truck went over the side of the road in rugged terrain just east of Orleans about an hour ago.

Several people called in the crash, and the truck was originally believed to have gone into the Klamath River, which — at least according to scanner traffic — appears not to be the case.

As noted below, a crash victim was located “unresponsive, and with back, neck and head injuries.”

Tactical rescue teams and medical personnel are on scene, and a CHP helicopter is in the air above the site. They’re attempting to arrange an airlift.

Follow updates from CHP dispatch below.
