Truck Headed Southbound on Safety Corridor Spins Out Across Northbound lanes, Ends up in Creek

A white truck headed southbound on the Arcata-Eureka safety corridor of U.S. Highway 101, spun out into the northbound lane and crashed into the creek near Harper Motors.
An anonymous LoCO reader witnessed this incident while headed south on Highway 101.
“He was heading south and went across both lanes from one side to the other,” the reader said in a phone interview. “I saw smoke coming up from his tires and he damn near hit a tree, but he missed the tree and went into the creek.”
The California Highway patrol reports that the driver did not sustain any injuries in the crash, but an ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The truck’s tires are submerged in at least three feet of water.
