Highway 101 Completely Blocked at Big Lagoon by 25-Foot Diameter Downed Tree

UPDATE, 1:45 p.m.: Caltrans public information officer Eli Rohl tells the Outpost two things.

1. The road has been cleared and is now open to traffic in both lanes, and

2. CHP dispatch erred, there below, when they forgot to hold down “shift” before pressing the “’” key. Twenty-five inches, not feet, sayeth Rohl.

###

Word comes down that Highway 101 is currently closed at Big Lagoon after a large tree fell across both lanes of the narrow highway just before 1 p.m. They’re saying the tree is 25 feet in diameter.

We’ll post up anything else we find right here. Meanwhile, CHP dispatch will have automatic updates below.
