Press release from the California Highway Patrol:

On June 29, 2016, at approximately 3:15 PM, a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 21 year old Eureka resident, was traveling westbound on Alderpoint Road, just west of milepost marker 16.00.  For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Yamaha lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a right hand curve. The motorcycle overturned onto its side and slid into the eastbound lane, directly into the path of an eastbound 1994 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 46 year old Garberville resident Lynn Sedano-Polries. The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The identity of the motorcyclist is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

This collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

CHP Watch notes an incident that occurred earlier this afternoon on Alderpoint Road just south of Alderpoint involving a motorcycle and a Jeep Wrangler. The caller reporting the crash said that a motorcyclist collided with a tree though it was not clear to them if the rider had been hit by the vehicle or not. In addition to the tow truck requested for the motorcycle, a second tow truck was called to the scene for the Jeep Wrangler. 

CHP would later update the incident to list the crash as a fatality. We will update when we know more. Full CHP log below.
