Vehicle in Creek Off Highway 101; Rescue Crews on Scene
Emergency crews are working at the scene of a traffic incident off Highway 101 south of Laytonville, notes LoCO’s CHP Watch. According to CHP dispatcher logs a dark-colored sedan is pinned against some trees in the middle of a creek that runs adjacent the roadway. One involved party told officials that the collision occurred last night and that a passenger, thought to be deceased, may still be in the vehicle.
Emergency crews are still trying to figure out how to get to the vehicle which is resting in swift-moving water — the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Department reportedly doesn’t have swift-water rescue capabilities. A call has been put out to Willits Fire Department.
The southbound lane of Highway 101 is blocked. Updates below.
