Highway 36 Closed After Fatal Accident Involving Logging Truck

UPDATE: Highway 36 is now open to one-way controlled traffic.

Original PostLoCO’s CHP Watch notes a collision that occurred just before 6 a.m. on Highway 36 east of Carlotta involving a logging truck and a Honda Civic. CHP dispatchers report that the logging truck spilled its load. First responders from Calfire say there was one fatality as a result of the incident.

Caltrans estimates Highway 36 will be closed until 1 p.m. while the investigation is carried out.
