Vehicle Spotted in Trinity River Near Hoopa; Rescue Boat En Route
Multiple agencies have responded to a section of Highway 96 north of Hoopa after callers reported a vehicle in the Trinity River.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, the wreck “looks fresh” and the vehicle is in three feet of water. Logs also note “there is a bad smell and there are buzzards flying around in the area.”
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has sent a search and rescue boat to the scene and are trying to find a rescue diver. Updates below.
