(VIDEO) Firefighters Extinguish Blazing Sedan on 101 in Rio Dell

Firefighters extinguished a car fire along the southbound shoulder of Highway 101 in Rio Dell this afternoon.

According to the CHP Incident report, the car’s brakes failed before it caught fire near the Wildwood Ave. offramp.

Video of the fire seen below, sent in by Outpost reader Jamie Lyn Cohoon, shows smoke billowing feet away from nearby homes.

Cohoon said she also heard explosions, which she believes were the car’s tires popping.

“Stuff was flat blowing up,” she said.

A small explosion can also be seen in the video above taken by Outpost reader Clark A.

According to scanner traffic, the fire was extinguished at 1:40 P.M.
