‘Pretty Big Fire’ Breaks Out Near Hoopa Overnight; Highway 96 Closed
Highway 96 is closed at Hoopa this morning after a large, quick-spreading fire broke out overnight.
The CHP first took note of the fire at about 4:35 p.m. this morning. Shortly after, dispatchers noted that it was moving uphill toward a home.
Early this morning, Caltrans confirmed the CHP dispatch report from early in the morning: The highway is currently closed in both directions.
