Ferndale agency assist, PD requesting assistance at the end of Herbert Street with a chainsaw to help remove a large tree down near Firemen’s‘ Park

I missed how it started, but about 12:20 an EPD ofcr or ofcrs got into a foot pursuit then a fight near 2nd & C Streets, and requested help from more EPD plus HCSO. Was soon holding one at gunpoint and two at taser-point. Don’t know the cause or result but it sounded like quite a snot-flinger for a few minutes.

Gah! If you have the misfortune of being in hot-as-balls Redway today — where we are told it is approaching 110°! — at least swing by the corner of Rusk and Redway Drive where some of the saintly folks from the Mateel Community Center are handing out free snow cones.

Sigh. The outside world has again been reminded that, come summertime, Humboldt is a comparatively frigid paradise compared to the rest of our melting state.

This time the Los Angeles Times is the narc. In a piece published over the holiday weekend headlined “This is a Cold Oasis in California on the Hottest Weekend of the Year,” the Times warns potential Humboldt-trekking readers to “beware of ‘fogburn” before delving a bit into local culture and the science that allows our coast to remain so pleasantly chilly.

Woodland Incident update on conditions: Humboldt County Coroner was requested to the scene of the earlier structure fire on Woodland in Eureka. HCSO and Coroner are at scene. Fire units are slowly being released. Samoa Fire has remained in Eureka for coverage and has responded to multiple calls in the city.

Blue IC is requesting Alder Crew continue, they will keep all of the units that are at scene and the remainder can cancel

Resources are arriving at the Blue Fire on HW 299. Tanker 96 from Rohnerville arrived and made initial attack retardant drops without the aid of an air attack. Air Attacks 2CG and 120 were responding from Redding but have been canceled. Tanker 96 is returning to Rohnerville on a load and hold. Cal Fire is asking for the mutual aid engines that had responded for coverage during the Woodland Incident in Eureka to be released by Humboldt Bay Fire so they can cover for units responding to the Blue Incident

First unit at scene of the vegetation fire on HW 299 will be the “Blue IC”; CHP is reporting that the fire may have been started by a truck that lost a tire

Blue Lake Vegetation Fire: Multiple reports of a vegetation fire in the area of mile marker 8.9 on Highway 299; For Blue Lake Fire, Westhaven Fire, Arcata Fire, Kneeland Fire water tender, Cal Fire Battalion 1214, Engines 1274 and 1265, 2 Dozers, Alder crew 2 and 3, Tanker 96 and one Air Attack on order

Tanker 96 from Rohnerville and the two air attack planes responding from Redding have been canceled on the McCann Incident. A large ground response and Copter 909 are on scene

McCann Vegetation Fire: Single report of smoke showing from Dyerville Loop Rd; Cal Fire has sent a full wildland response including aircraft; First unit at scene will be “McCann IC”; Cal Fire has an engine on scene with power lines down and a roadside start that is 30’x30’ in size with a slow rate of spread, requesting to continue the full response

Most of the second alarm units are being canceled on the Woodland incident. Firefighters are getting the fire under control. Arcata and Blue Lake are covering the district

Battalion 8102 is on scene with a fully involved single story wood frame residential structure with fire through the roof, this will be a defensive fire, first in unit lay in a line and establish a defensive attack; 8102 is “Woodland IC”

Eureka Structure Fire: Report of a fully involved residential structure in the 5100 Block of Woodland cross of Pigeon Point Rd.; Humboldt Bay Fire responding; Responding units report that smoke visible from Myrtle Ave, requesting upgrade to a second alarm

Primary and secondary search of the first and second floor is all clear. Utilities are secure. Loleta Fire is unable to respond for the move up and cover of Eureka. Blue Lake Fire is now being requested for coverage. (*correction on the earlier post - Chief 8102 is the IC)

B Street IC is requesting EPD to the scene for crowd control. Per the incident safety “expedite EPD, they are hostile”. EPD is arriving on scene
