Eich IC has a primary all clear per report from an occupant who was inside the building when the fire started. Arcata Fire has one engine responding to the scene as part of the commercial second alarm. Loleta and Blue Lake Fire have been dispatched for move up and cover assignments in the city

Humboldt Bay Fire is on scene with a single story wood frame commercial structure with fire through the roof, passing command and setting up for a transitional attack. There is one exposure threatened. Battalion 8104 will be “Eich IC” and making this a defensive fire. Law enforcement has Eich blocked at S. Broadway and Humboldt Hill.

I missed how it started, but about 12:20 an EPD ofcr or ofcrs got into a foot pursuit then a fight near 2nd & C Streets, and requested help from more EPD plus HCSO. Was soon holding one at gunpoint and two at taser-point. Don’t know the cause or result but it sounded like quite a snot-flinger for a few minutes.

Sigh. The outside world has again been reminded that, come summertime, Humboldt is a comparatively frigid paradise compared to the rest of our melting state.
This time the Los Angeles Times is the narc. In a piece published over the holiday weekend headlined “This is a Cold Oasis in California on the Hottest Weekend of the Year,” the Times warns potential Humboldt-trekking readers to “beware of ‘fogburn” before delving a bit into local culture and the science that allows our coast to remain so pleasantly chilly.

Woodland Incident update on conditions: Humboldt County Coroner was requested to the scene of the earlier structure fire on Woodland in Eureka. HCSO and Coroner are at scene. Fire units are slowly being released. Samoa Fire has remained in Eureka for coverage and has responded to multiple calls in the city.

Blue IC is requesting Alder Crew continue, they will keep all of the units that are at scene and the remainder can cancel

Resources are arriving at the Blue Fire on HW 299. Tanker 96 from Rohnerville arrived and made initial attack retardant drops without the aid of an air attack. Air Attacks 2CG and 120 were responding from Redding but have been canceled. Tanker 96 is returning to Rohnerville on a load and hold. Cal Fire is asking for the mutual aid engines that had responded for coverage during the Woodland Incident in Eureka to be released by Humboldt Bay Fire so they can cover for units responding to the Blue Incident
