A helicopter is approaching to dump water on the “Hatchery Incident” fire in Blue Lake. Forward progress has been stopped, report firefighters. Four individuals “were seen running from the scene.”

There are structures in the area, says a firefighter on scene, but they’re quite a ways away from the fire. They’re still trying to get access through this locked gate.

Found it. It’s on the south side of the river — across the river from the brewery, in other words — and behind a locked gate on private property. They’re calling it a 20’x30’ foot spot fire at the moment. One responder says that they should be able to knock it down pretty quick if they get a helicopter in there.

Some units are canceling their response to this so-called Blue Lake fire. Other units still looking for it.

Now the theory is that the fire might be at the very end of Taylor Way and south a piece, toward the river.

Blue Lake Fire and numerous other Calfire resources are responding to report of a vegetation fire near the intersection of Hatchery Road and Taylor Way. That’s right where the Mad River Brewing Company tap room/restaurant is.
