The Coast Guard helicopter landed at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Eureka and transferred at least one patient. REACH 18 is shortly behind. I believe Copter 909 is returning to base and was not needed to transport a patient. Initially, it appears that the crashed plane made a right base turn for runway 12 and was low and slow on the approach (for unknown reasons) before entering the water. It does appear that runway 12 is the runway that is currently in use.

The Coast Guard helicopter and Cal Fire Copter 909 have landed at the Shelter Cove Airport. Clarification on the prior wind conditions, that is the closest Rohnerville METARs observation. Wind may have been different at Shelter Cove. It does appear that Runway 12 was used by at least one other aircraft around the time of the incident

todd / 1:14 p.m.

It appears that the aircraft went down on the approach to Runway 12 at Shelter Cove Airport but this has yet to be confirmed. METARs at the time was showing winds 6 kt at 300 degrees with reasonable visibility. A REACH helicopter is also on order but not yet responding

todd / 1:11 p.m.

Copter 909 is airborne and enroute to the airplane crash in Shelter Cove. Shelter Cove Fire has resources on scene. A Coast Guard helicopter appears to have diverted from the Point Arena area and is almost at scene. There are reportedly 2 occupants of the aircraft now out of the water and the aircraft is fully submerged.
