3:39 p.m.: Northwestern Salamander Eggs - This was taken almost a month later than the previous picture, on 4/2/15. Notice the gills and developing anterior legs. The eyes look almost completely developed. These are about 0.75"-1" inch in length. Compare these photos to the ones from months ago and notice the changes. It has been one of the most special natural experiences for me, to see this happen. 1:56 p.m.: Another shot for #flashbackfriday, from the same day as my last post, exploring Fern Canyon. For my money the best day trip in Humboldt County, the easy walk through the canyon and then cruise down the endless beach as far as you wanna go, sharing the trail with as many elk as hikers. Even the drive out is an adventure, dirt road from 101, with a creek crossing or two on the way. Damn, now I really wanna go back….
