LoCO’s daily Instagram battle ran from March 2015 to June 2016. Instagram no longer serves the photos, so what’s left is who posted, when, the votes and the captions.
Voting is closed.
Think Humboldt County is beautiful? Got Instagram on your intelligent phone? Use #HumboldtCounty to place an image here and (temporarily) on LoCO’s homepage. Or just vote on your neighbors’ fine pics below. More details here.
REMINDER: Not everyone whose photo appears here necessarily knows that they’re playing our game, right? Remember that.

7:40 a.m.: Lichens are enormously successful and evolutionarily ancient composite organisms comprising two, sometimes three biological kingdoms!🙌🏼 Lichens are fungi AND algae (Cyanobacteria, or both) growing together, mutually👫 Peltigera neopolydactyla, or Frog pelt, is a large leaf lichen with broad lobes. The upper surface varies in colour from olive-green to pale or dark bluish-grey. The upper surface is hairless, often with pointy orange to brownish fruiting bodies (apothecia) along lobe margins🍃 fungusamongus #mushrooms #mycophile #mycology #fungus #shroomatnoon #fungi #mushroomlover #pnw #humboldt #norcal #upperleftus #upperleftusa #pnwcollective #pnwonderland #orick #forest #forestfinds #northcoast #humboldtcounty #fungiaffair #allthemushroomhashtags #explorehumboldt #lichen #algae #fungi #frogpeltlichen #frogpelt #macrolichen #Peltigeraneopolydactyla
