LoCO’s daily Instagram battle ran from March 2015 to June 2016. Instagram no longer serves the photos, so what’s left is who posted, when, the votes and the captions.
Voting is closed.
Think Humboldt County is beautiful? Got Instagram on your intelligent phone? Use #HumboldtCounty to place an image here and (temporarily) on LoCO’s homepage. Or just vote on your neighbors’ fine pics below. More details here.
REMINDER: Not everyone whose photo appears here necessarily knows that they’re playing our game, right? Remember that.

12:18 a.m.: We ran down to the river and played baseball with a stick and rocks. We yelled and danced and talked about whatever until it was almost too dark to find our way back. It was glorious. Today I am thankful for friends that give me a chance to either talk about my frustrations or run around like a kid until I feel better.

Here we can see the parotoid glands, which are an aggregation of grandular glands. These glands secret toxins that are deadly to some predators, noxious to others, and to some effectless. If you look at the animal's left eye, notice the light circle areas. Another area of grandular gland concentration is the dorsal ridge on A.gracile's tail. When disturbed the animal secrets it's poison, and will thrash it's tail trying to get the poison on its predator. They will also tilt they head down and towards the threat, making the parotoid gland more pronounced. •
