Black Hearts Friday w/ Kaseem Bentley

Six Rivers Brewery

No date for Valentine’s Day? No worries, we got you covered. Some of the best comedians from the Bay Area are coming up to make sure you laugh and have a good time. You’ll probably still laugh and have a good time if you do have a date, I was just sayin…

It’s a spectacular line-up. Kaseem Bentley is coming up to headline, he’s bringing Scott Simpson and Dhaya Lakshminarayanan with him, and we’re throwing local favorite Joe Deschaine in for good measure. Hosted by Tony Persico, this is a show that will be remembered for generations. It’s basically a spectaular event the likes of which has never been seen, and that fleeting moment will come and go so quickly. Will you be lucky enough to be able to say you were there?

Also, come out a little early (like 8) and check out some informal pre-show comedy conversation type stuff for free!

Kaseem Bentley
Named SF Weekly Best of Award Winner for “Racial Humor You Don’t Feel Guilty Laughing At” and one of the Bay Area’s “Top 5 Comedians to Watch” by the San Jose Mercury News and Kaseem Bentley is an African American insult comic from San Francisco. Growing up with his ‘hardcore class clown’ father and mom that was like a tough Claire Huxtable Kaseem developed his no-holds-barred comedic style that made friends and co-workers always laugh. After years of procrastinating he finally tried stand up in 2006 and has been steadily making a name for himself in the Bay Area. Known as the “The funniest comic at the worst show” he works at works at the SF Punchline, Cobb’s,countless bars, and b rooms and just recently performed at the San Francisco Comedy and Burrito Festival.

Scott Simpson
Scott Simpson once came back to the U.S. from Japan by boat, lying to his girlfriend that it was for the adventure when really it was because he was afraid of flying. After a dozen years in digital media at Amazon and then Apple, he’s now a full-time comedian and writer who has performed at SF Sketchfest, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and—more recently—a super weird, empty gay bar. He makes jokes on Twitter as @scottsimpson, and his show “You Look Nice Today” has received the Podcast Award for Best Comedy Podcast. He also has a website, fully loaded with what you would expect to find on a website in 2013.

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan
Dhaya Lakshminarayanan was named Best Comedian 2013 in the SF Bay Guardian’s Best of the Bay Readers Poll. She is a favorite at corporate events as well as festivals like the Bridgetown Comedy Festival (2013), SF Sketchfest (2013, 2012), the Boston Comedy Festival (2012 semifinalist), and the Women in Comedy Festival (2013). She is the Grand Prize Winner of Comedy Central Asia’s “Ultimate Comedy Challenge” (2013). In addition, Dhaya is a storyteller and TV host. She hosted the premiere year of the Emmy-award winning PBS series, High School Quiz Show. She is a frequent comedic storyteller on NPR’s Snap Judgment, performed live on The Risk podcast in Austin, and was awarded $10,000 from webcasting company ON24 for Best Travel Disaster Story. She has opened/featured for or worked with the following: Marc Maron, Janeane Garofalo, Greg Behrendt, Myq Kaplan, Jello Biafra, Dick Gregory, Anthony Jeselnik, Maz Jobrani, and Greg Proops.
