El Vez, Rosie Flores, and the Lost Luvs
Legendary Chicano Elvis impersonator, El Vez http://www.elvez.net/main.htm has been doing his thing for 25 years and doing it soooo well. He has had his rip away gold lame suit on exhibit at the Smithsonian along side a sign that said, ” El Vez, The Elvis translator elucidates Chicano history by highlighting the musical connections between classic pop, rock, and punk songs, and Mexican and Afro-Carribean music. His rip-away gold lame Mariachi suit represents his sassy interpretation of US culture from a Chicano point of view.” He is on tour this December with Rockabilly Queen Rosie Flores. According to Wikipedia Rosie Flores (born September 10, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas) is a rockabilly and country music artist of Mexican American heritage. Her music blends rockabilly, honky tonk, jazz, and Western swing along with traditional influences from her Tex-Mex heritage. She currently resides in Austin, Texas, where August 31 was declared Rosie Flores Day by the Austin City Council in 2006. The two artists together in one night should be a real treat for us! The Lost Luvs reverbalicious girl group sound will open up the evening!
