Emergency Medical Technician Certification (EMT)

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides basic life support care to critically ill or injured patients. EMTs learn to manage airways using artificial devices, assess the severity of illness or injury, manage wounds and bleeding, immobilize fractures, perform CPR, utilize an automated defibrillator and assist with administration of some medications. Dates & Times: August 22- December 22 • Mondays & Tuesdays • 5:30-10:30 PM Prerequisite: 18 years of age at time of course completion, 160 classroom hours, 24 field and clinical observation hours, CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, Background check through Certified Background Company ($45 not included in course fee), immunizations or proof of immunizations TB, Hepatitis B, influenza. Program Fee Includes: Registration and EMT t-shirt, all additional fees are the responsibility of the participant and to be handled outside of Center Activities. Materials Needed: Emergency Care 12th Edition, available in the bookstore. Recommended companion workbook, available in the bookstore.
