Increase the Peace

The Jam

Show of hands: Who wants to revel all the things that make Humboldt so special?

OK. We’ll see you at Increase The Peace, this Saturday at the Jambalaya and Humbrews in Arcata.

Both venues are donating their stages for seemingly every local band and poet. Like last week’s meth awareness meeting, Increase The Peace came together in the wake of Fr. Eric Freed’s death.

In the latest Mad River Union, Kevin Hoover writes the event:

“…won’t include kvetching about negative trends and telling sad stories.

Instead, the idea is to get momentum going for effective solutions such as drug education and treatment, homeless relief and crime prevention.”

Organizer Pete Ciotti told KHUM that Humboldt’s better than what’s been dominating local news lately. “We’re about community, good music, good food, good beer… We’re better than what we’ve been reading about.”
