Pranayama: The 4th Limb
“For the common man, to stop the breath is death. For the yogi, it is Samadhi. Asana is the ground floor of a yoga practice. It must be strong before you begin to build on top of it. To build the steps from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor of a building, materials are required in proper measurements and ratios-water, cement, brick, stone, and so forth. Like that, principles are required to safely practice pranayama. Pranayama is the stairway to the higher states of yoga.” -Sri BNS Iyengar
This workshop will be an introduction to the Pranayama principles of Sri T. Krishnamacharya as taught to Sri BNS Iyengar of Mysore. Handouts with step by step Pranayama instructions + ratios will be included with the workshop. Attendees will be empowered to begin a daily Pranayama Sadhana.
Joey Paz has traveled to Mysore, India on many occasions to study asanas, mudras, pranayama, and yoga philosophy in depth with Sri BNS Iyengar, the last living student of Krishnamacharya who is still teaching yoga today.
