Sponge has proven to be one of the Motor City’s heaviest hitters after gaining international notoriety with their debut album Rotting Piñata. With their hits “Plowed” and “Molly’, they got a lot of play on the radio and MTV, which helped Rotting Piñata eventually earn Platinum status! Their music has been utilized in a number of feature films and they secured top-10 Billboard hits from their second studio album Wax Ecstatic. Sponge’s subsequent releases showcased the band’s swirling sonic attack rooted in 70s glam as well as Motor City influences.
