Got your costume planned yet? Though not required, costumes are encouraged for the October 24th Halloween Boogie presented by KMUD Radio and the Mateel Community Center. Music starts at 8:30pm and in addition to the annual costume contest you’ll enjoy delicious food, a bar, and lots more. One of the highlight of the night is the Costume Contest, which traditionally features some of the most fun, creative, wild, crazy and beautiful costumes these parts have ever known. There will be a cash prize for the top winner and a selection of Mateel and KMUD swag for the other two winners…bragging rights included. An Awesome Talent Line-Up… This year’s entertainment includes three amazing groups who promise to deliver one of the most culturally inspired, native driven, heart pounding Halloween Boogie’s ever! Heading this year’s bill is the Hip Hop-Electronica-World Fusion sounds of the Goddess Alchemy Project, an all female band of uniquely inspired and talented young women who’ve been described as mixing cultural influences “…like euphonic chemists across a wide Periodic Table of musical genres”. You’ll also enjoy to the Afro-Galactic-Electro-Roots sounds of Dogon Lights which combines elements of Funk, Hip Hop, Shamanic, African, Rock, and Electronica played on traditional instruments. The Dogon Lights create a shamanic and energetic dance atmosphere that takes the listener straight to the stars. But wait, there’s more! You’ll also be treated to the indescribable sounds of To Life! who’ll be offering up their unique mix of World, New Age, African, and Arabic influences in what’s sure to be an unforgettable trance inducing set. So be ready for some great vibes at one of the most colorful and fun parties of the year! Doors open at 8pm. Music starts at 8:30pm and goes til 1am. Tickets are $28 Advanced Online & The Usual Outlets and $30 at the Door. Advanced tickets are strongly advised!
