The RCMBA Story

RCMBA Fundraiser
Short film and live music from the Critics
This is the story of how a small group of passionate mountain bikers in Humboldt County, California transformed their community. What started with kids building secret bike jumps in the woods has grown into a thriving partnership between riders, timber companies, and local governments.
At its heart, this is about parents wanting to give their kids better opportunities than they had, about turning outlaw trails into world-class riding destinations, and about a community coming together to build something special. Through the annual Mad River Enduro race, we see how far they’ve come - from dodging security guards on logging roads to hosting 230 racers on professionally built trails.
The film follows the personal journeys of key figures like Sean Tetrault, who went from building illegal jumps as a kid to becoming a respected trail advocate, and Travis James, a civil engineer who works tirelessly to expand the trail network. Their story shows how mountain biking isn’t just about riding bikes - it’s about building community, creating economic opportunities, and leaving a legacy for future generations.
Through stunning trail footage and intimate interviews, we see how this grassroots movement is transforming a rural logging region into a mountain biking destination, proving that with passion, persistence, and partnership, a small group of dedicated people can create lasting change in their community.
