Trader Joe’s, the trendy grocery store that inspires many Humboldtians’ special trips to Sonoma County, has spent the last couple years aggressively expanding its store count, prompting the latest round of whispers that Humboldt might be in the company’s future plans. 

This week, a person in the local food manufacturing industry reached out to the Outpost to let us know what they’re hearing: “Being in the food world, I often hear about retailers long term plans. Last week, a Trader Joe’s rep visited a sister company and explained that TJs has plans to expand from 573 stores today to 1,000 in the next 8 years. That works out to more than 1 store opening per week!”

Hmm! We’re aware of the level of excitement such news generates in our community. Keeping in mind that LoCO can be easily accessed at Trader Joe’s headquarters, do y’all think Humboldt would benefit from such an incursion?
