Hat tip to the Times-Standard’s Sage Alexander, who noticed that there’s a proposal on this week’s agenda of the Eureka Open Space, Parks and Recreation Commission to rename Old Town’s Snug Alley — that’s the one that runs along the north side of the Gazebo for a few blocks in either direction — to “Flatmo Alley,” after local muralist/sculptor/bon vivant Duane Flatmo.

The proposal comes from Eureka City Councilmember Kati Moulton, a former Flatmo disciple who says this in her proposal:

Duane Flatmo has left his mark on this city, on its people, on the world in so many ways. I believe we should officially claim him as the local treasure he is and put his name on something in the heart of Eureka’s Cultural Arts District. On behalf of Duane’s wife Micki, everyone who has ever counted him as a mentor, generations of Kinetic racers, the fandom of El Pulpo and everyone in our community whose favorite hoodie has a Flatmo on it: I propose that the City of Eureka permanently rename Snug Alley to Flatmo Alley.

Well, what do you think? Should we change Snug Alley’s name to “Flatmo Alley”?
