Today came news that construction is just about set to begin on the City of Eureka/Humboldt Transit Authority’s long-planned EaRTH Center, which will serve as the county’s number-one hub for all things mass transit-related.

There’s a lot of energy at the moment toward beefing up the county’s public transit infrastructure. Aside from building this new hub, which will link the county’s transit system with the city’s and with intercity buses, the Humboldt Transit Authority has a stated goal of upping the schedule on its regular Scotia-Trinidad route to a bus every ten minutes.

We’ll leave aside, for now, the question of whether you support this or that effort to up the service level. We’re looking for a sort of baseline temperature today.
