Flashback: It’s January of 2017, mere days after Donald Trump has been inaugurated the 45th President of the United States. In an event similar to hundreds of others around the country, an estimated 8,000 people flooded the streets of Eureka in solidarity with the Women’s March on Washington, an act of defiance against the incoming administration. 

Fast-forward to today: As we all prepare in our own ways for Donald Trump’s second inauguration, a small group of local organizers are hoping to draw the community together again.

This Saturday, the national Women’s March organization is hosting “People’s March” events across the nation, including here in Humboldt County. The local event will begin on the steps of the Humboldt County Courthouse at 10 a.m. and will feature speeches, music and sign waving.
