INSTRUCTIONS

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

DESCRIPTION

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…West Central Humboldt County in northwestern California…

* Until 830 AM PST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS… - At 334 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.3 to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. Additional rain along with high tides may result in flooding of creeks and streams around Humboldt Bay. Flooding impacts from the Elk River, Jacoby Creek, and Freshwater Creek are all possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
