I’ve been advocating for Humboldt to provide marijuana experiences here to draw in people from outside the area and capitalize on the fame of our name in 420 circles.  707 Cannabis College is one of the newest and most exciting businesses to do that. The organizers, Kellie Dodds and Pearl Moon, plan on a curriculum that teaches not only how to grow marijuana sustainably but also gives courses on the appropriate laws affecting growers and on how to use cannabis for health.  Classes will start this fall.  I intend to audit some.  To integrate the college into the community, Dodds and Moon have prepared an information packed event Saturday at the Mateel Community Center.

Ellen Komp of NORML will be there looking for community input on how best to formulate local guidelines for cannabis businesses and encourage small and local efforts as opposed to what she calls “some huge corporate empire.”

Below is the schedule. More information can also be found here.

July 10th, 2010, at the Mateel Community Center, from 12pm-6pm - The 707 Cannabis College EXPO!

Join us for a festive afternoon of celebrity guest speakers, music, food, and interactivity as we discuss and share ideas about cannabis, health, horticulture, and the state of the herb. The event will feature vendors and non-profit participants, guest speakers, and most of all YOUR input. Got something to share? Come join us!
