If pot goes legal what kind of jobs will that generate? Looking at opportunities that exist in the Medical Marijuana field now is one way to extrapolate into the future.
Employment openings created in the marijuana field include one called Budtender. Like a bartender, the applicants for this position should be good with people, capable of handling a cash register and knowledgeable about their chosen field. In addition, a budtender needs a valid 215 card. Check here for more in depth descriptions of an average position.
The job pays between $10-$20 per hour and often seems to be part time.
Here is an ad placed last summer where a dispensary was looking to fill several positions:
Medical Marijuana Dispensary Seeks Female Budtenders…This is a part time job, 4 hours a day. 2 shifts available. 8AM-12Noon Or 8PM-Midnight.
Great for students to make some extra cash.
We will train you, but you should have some experience with cannabis and have a doctors recommendation for Medical marijuana.
8314 Sepulveda Blvd.
North Hills, CA91343
Perhaps it is the contact name that makes me wary or perhaps it is restricting the budtender job to only females. But maybe I’m paranoid because I once applied for this job:
Wanted: Masseuse. No experiencenecessary. College girl type preferred.
$20-$30 per hour plus tips
Being raised out a winding rural road twenty minutes from the nearest tiny town, left me unprepared for some of a life’s interesting moments.
Most of the jobs sound legitimate though. Here’s how to get an education as a Budtender.
As a caution, here’s the story about a bad day one Budtender had in 2005
