The national media is all a-flutter with its pre-Kinetics race reports. Somehow, they manage both to trivialize the race and to not trivialize it enough. One pities these poor third-tier scribes, packed in four to the cubicle and compelled to daydream of The Glory…

We all know that the LoCO‘s brethren at KHUM live and breathe kinetics for about 48 weeks of the year. So that’s where you want to be throughout the duration of the race, assuming only that you can’t be there in person for 80 hours straight. KHUM’s flood-the-zone coverage begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and runs straight through to Monday afternoon. They’ll be live on air with multiple reporters on the ground – 104.3 & 104.7 FM, and streaming live at khum.com. Meanwhile, star liveblogger Eli Rohl is gonna be holding down the multimedia tip at the KHUM homepage – video, audio, images and droll commentary.

But: The LoCO is thrilled to announce that your editor has been … honored? We’ll go with “honored” … as the Race’s Royal Groom Of The Stool. It’s not quite clear who has bestowed this title upon me, or what the title even means, but apparently there’s going to be some sort of demeaning ceremony tomorrow morning. See the press release here, if you must.

Race on!
