The Press Democrat is reporting that around 150 federal agents have been swarming Santa Rosa neighborhoods looking for marijuana since early this morning. According to the article, over 30 homes in the area south of the Corby Auto Mall have been raided. Reports of exploding flash grenades are coupled with photos of officers in what appears to be full camo body armor, helmets and carrying battering rams and large rectangular shields. According to the article,
Sheriff’s Lt. Dennis O’Leary said the operation was planned after authorities discovered that suspected pot cultivation in the neighborhood had become rampant.
“We just looked into this neighborhood and, literally, probably every backyard but two or three have a (marijuana) grow,” O’Leary said. “Our goal is to go in there to rid the neighborhood of these, what we think are probably illegal grows.”
