It being Veteran’s Day and all, LoCO asks you to take a moment and watch this beautifully shot profile of Blue Ox Millworks founder Eric Hollenbeck. The 10-minute piece titled The Ox was produced by Los Angeles-based filmmaker Ben Proudfoot and premiered Sunday night at the Eagle House in Eureka.

In the film, Hollenbeck discusses the desire to occupy his own personal “island” after returning from Vietnam. He notes being contacted by the VA about the possibility of opening a school for returning vets, a development he sees as something of a culmination for the mill. Watch.
