From the Arcata Police Department:

On 8/11/2014 at about 7:20pm, officers from the Arcata Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of J Street on the report of a vehicle burglary in progress.

An alert resident working nearby observed a male subject break a vehicle window and start to burglarize the vehicle.  The witness then confronted the suspect who fled the scene on foot.  The suspect was located a short time later when another nearby resident in the 800 block of 5th Street hailed officers and informed them that an unknown male subject was trying to conceal himself on her property.

The suspect was located and identified on scene by the witness as the burglar.

The suspect was identified as Mississippi resident Daniel Joseph Dove (age 32).  He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked and lodged for PC 459 - Burglary.
