From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On 07-10-2014, at approximately 4:35 p.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a 46 year old woman who reported being assaulted. The victim told the investigating deputy she had been in a relationship with James Christopher Towne, 43 years old. She and Towne had been residing in the woods (The McKay Tract) behind Winship Elementary School, Eureka.
On 07-05-2014, they got into an argument when she accidentally knocked over the cook stove they were using. During the argument, Towne grabbed her by the mouth and chin, and squeezed very hard. When she tried to get away from Towne, he threw her onto the ground and held her down. He bit her on face around her eyes and mouth. The victim was finally able to escape and called the Sheriff’s Office from a safe location to report the crime.
The victim received scrapes and bruises from the assault. She was treated and released at a local hospital for her injuries.
A local “Be-on-the-Lookout” for James Christopher Towne has been issued to all local law enforcement agencies. He is wanted for domestic violence. He is described as: White, 43 years old, 6’ tall, 200 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes.
