UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: California Highway Patrol press release:
Here is the press release for the Oct. 5th incident on Buck Mountain Rd. CHP will be completing the investigation of this incident. I’ve attached a PDF of the release.
On October 5, 2014, at approximately 1230 hours, Thomas Kane was driving a Toyota Sequoia SUV southbound on Buck Mountain Road, south of Alderpoint Road, at approximately 30 miles per hour. Gabriel Jackson was driving a Honda ATV northbound on Buck Mountain Road, south of Alderpoint Road, at an unknown speed. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision. Gabriel Jackson was fully ejected from the ATV and sustained fatal injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the cause of this collision.
This collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Garberville Area.

Original post:
According to Officer Patrick Bourassa of the California Highway Patrol, his agency and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s office are jointly investigating the October 2 ATV accident on Little Buck Mountain Road that resulted in the death of Gabriel Andrew Jackson age 27 from the Garberville area.
Calling the incident a “complex investigation,” Bourassa would only confirm that two vehicles were involved. He explained that it would be several more days before either agency would be able to release more information.
