Fortuna Police Department press release:

On 9/9/2014 at 0850 hours, the Fortuna Police Department and Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a fire alarm in the library of the Fortuna High School.

Students were evacuated and fire personnel checked the library and it was determined that a ballast for one of the light fixtures in the library was the reason for the alarm.

School officials acted quickly and shut power off to the building and the Fire Department gave the all clear for the students to return to classes.
