The Humboldt County Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is urging parents to make sure their children’s vaccinations are up-to-date before school starts in the fall.
“Vaccinating is one of the most important things parents can do to protect their children’s health and the health of their community,” said Lara Weiss, DHHS’s deputy director of Public Health. “Vaccinations help promote a healthy life throughout childhood and beyond.”
The following immunizations are required to enter kindergarten and transitional kindergarten:
- Polio
- DTaP-Diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis
- MMR-Measles, mumps and rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Chickenpox (varicella).
The Tdap booster (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) is required for children entering seventh-grade.
