Eureka Police Department press release: 

On 02/09/15, at about 1:46 AM, Eureka Police Department officers were dispatched to assist Humboldt Bay Fire personnel, who were responding to the report of a baby just born in the green belt behind the Bayshore Mall. This incident occurred as torrential winds and rain struck the area.

EPD Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and searched for the mother and child. During this search, officers located the mother and the newborn infant in an encampment behind the mall. The mother and the child were both transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment and are reportedly fine.
