Campus police are asking the public for any information that might help them identify a suspect (or suspects) in an early morning paintball shooting that took place in Arcata earlier this week. The victim in the incident, as LoCO readers will recall, wrote a passionate open letter to his assailant(s) that was shared over 3,000 times on Facebook and we featured here.

Humboldt State University police are working closely with the Arcata Police Department in investigating a paintball gun shooting incident that occurred early Monday morning.
The victim was shot in the eye at about 1:30 a.m. as he was walking along the edge of campus. He was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital and has since been released.
The incident was initially reported to Arcata Police. However, it was later determined that it occurred along LK Wood Blvd. and within the jurisdiction of HSU’s police department.
The suspect or suspects may have been driving a black SUV of unknown make or model, and a related incident may have occurred earlier in the City of Arcata. University Police are asking that anyone with information about this incident call Sgt. Chance Carpenter at 826-5555.
