Lindsay Kaminsky By Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Today Lindsay Kaminsky faced charges of stabbing her husband of five years in the neck while he slept, though Glenn Kaminsky told the Outpost he attributes his wife’s attack to her recent uncharacteristic mental changes.

Today in the courtroom, Glenn Kaminsky shook his head and looked on helplessly from his courtroom seat as Judge Marilyn B. Miles denied his request to lift a protective order barring Lindsay Kaminsky from any contact with her husband.

Lindsay Kaminsky was booked Jan. 6 at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

The prosecutor in the case read out a letter from Glenn Kaminsky, in which he pleaded with the court to allow his wife to contact him from jail, if she so chooses. The prosecution’s official position, however, was that Lindsay Kaminsky still posed a threat to her husband and to herself.

Judge Miles sided with the the prosecutor and declined to lift the protective order or release the accused on her own recognizance, stating that she faced two serious felony charges. Miles did recommend that Lindsay Kaminsky be analyzed for any mental health issues.

Speaking after the hearing, Glenn Kaminsky seemed resigned to the fact that he would not be speaking with his wife anytime soon. But that didn’t mean he was happy about it.

“They’ve issued a protective order and I don’t want it,” he said. “She can’t come home, but at least let us talk to each other on the phone.”

Kaminsky said over the phone that despite his service as a disaster relief volunteer, the incident left him emotionally shaken. According to a 2011 article by USA Today, he helped pull bodies from the rubble at Ground Zero and even canceled his original wedding date with Lindsay to volunteer in New Orleans.

Lindsay Kaminsky’s next court date will be June 16 at 3 p.m.
