Six Rivers National Forest press release:
The 20 lightning-caused fires from the June 8 storms on the Six Rivers National Forest have been declared controlled as of the end of the day, Monday, June 15.
“I am very proud of the fire staffs and the work they did,” said Forest Supervisor Merv George. “The pre-season training and readiness reviews showed they were prepared for all the initial attack activities and continuing to fight the fires aggressively to keep them small. I am especially proud and congratulate everyone on the safety record and having no injuries. We also received excellent work from the natural resource advisors and support staff; many thanks to all.”
And since we’re talking forest fires, how about a brief Saddle Fire update:
#SaddleFire 1530 acres, 65% contained. A new start was detected near Bennett Peak on the SHF. This start isn’t…
